We’re only a few months into the year, and already, 2025 has shown just how special this club really is.

From the joy and pride of our 20th Anniversary Dinner Dance to the incredible spirit on display at the Patrick Reynolds Memorial Day, it’s been a start to the year filled with heart, laughter, and togetherness. These events reminded us what the Shamrocks are all about — connection, community, and a shared passion for our club and culture.

With the new season warming up nicely, there’s so much more to look forward to. Let’s take a look back at everything that’s happened so far…

Celebrating 20 Years in Style – A Night to Remember!

The 2025 North London Shamrocks Dinner Dance was a night of pride, memories, and celebration as the club marked its 20th anniversary with a sold-out event at the London Irish Centre. It was a special gathering that brought together current players, past legends, coaches, volunteers, and supporters to honour a landmark season and reflect on two decades of progress.

Club Chairman Keith Egan kicked off the evening with a warm welcome, acknowledging those who’ve been there since the club’s early days, alongside the current generation of players who made history in 2024. With the London Senior Championship trophy on display, he spoke of the club’s growth from humble beginnings to a thriving community with over 10 youth teams, a first-ever Junior Men’s team, and incredible achievements at all levels.

A huge thanks was given to head coach Peter Witherow and the entire senior management team, the youth coaches, and all the behind-the-scenes volunteers who keep the club ticking – from kit bags to chalked lines to Friday night fundraising.

Special mention went to the Holloway Gaels, with whom the Shamrocks share strong ties, particularly after both clubs captured championship titles last year – a beautiful tribute to the legacy of Tosh Kilcommons.

As the night unfolded, we celebrated those who made 2024 so memorable:

  • Club Man of the Year – The Tosh Kilcommons Cup was awarded to Barney O’Flaherty, for his tireless work and contribution across all aspects of club life.
  • Senior Player of the Year – Joe McGill
  • Reserve Player of the Year – Patrick Gannon

The club also welcomed special guests Karl Lacey, Donegal legend and now Head Donegal u16s and Youth Academy, and Paul Durcan, 2012 All-Ireland winning goalkeeper, who spoke about development, club culture, and memories from their intercounty careers.

Chairman Egan took a moment to reflect on the club’s ambition off the pitch too – with hopes for a second pitch, floodlights, and a clubhouse extension in the pipeline. With these ambitions come big asks, and a heartfelt thank-you was extended to all our sponsors and supporters for their incredible backing throughout the year.

A massive thank-you to:

  • The EXILES, who had the dancefloor bouncing
  • The London Irish Centre, for hosting us so well
  • All the volunteers who made the night possible
  • And to everyone who joined us to mark this incredible milestone

Here’s to 20 years of Shamrocks – and the next 20 to come.

History Made: First All-London Born Junior Team Takes the Field for NLS ☘️

On 15th March 2025, North London Shamrocks proudly fielded our first-ever all-London born Junior team — a major milestone for the club and a testament to the strength of our youth development system.

The team, made up of last season’s U17s and a few of our players from yesteryear, faced off against Tir Chonaill Gaels in a spirited match. The lads started strongly and competed well in the opening 20 minutes, but faded slightly in the closing stages of both halves, eventually falling 4-9 to 0-7.

While the result didn’t go our way, the character, pride, and sense of togetherness on display showed just how far these players have come. This game marked the next step in their journey, and there’s no doubt they’ll grow from strength to strength.

A big thank you to Brian Conaghan for refereeing and to all who supported on the day — your encouragement means the world to this young squad.

Patrick Reynolds Memorial Day – A Truly Special Celebration ☘️

Saturday 22nd March saw an incredible turnout for the Patrick Reynolds Memorial Day – a fitting tribute to a much-loved man who made a big impact across the North London GAA community.

Held at Tottenhall, the day brought together players, coaches, friends, and family from Éire Óg, North London Shamrocks, Holloway Gaels, and the London Masters for a fantastic GAA blitz. Éire Óg came out on top in the tournament, but the real win was the spirit of community, connection, and celebration that ran through the whole event.

There were kids’ coaching sessions for our U7s and U9s, live music performed by members across the clubs, a brilliant BBQ, delicious food from @ononfoodtrucks, and a steady flow of Guinness and Irish coffees thanks to the brilliant mobile bar from @thefalteringfullback. The energy stayed high all afternoon with bouncy castles and treats for the little ones, and the evening continued back at The Fullback for more music and laughter.

A huge thank you to everyone who came, played, performed, cooked, poured pints, shared stories, and helped organise the day — including all those who travelled from across the UK and Ireland to be part of it. It was a true testament to the love and respect so many have for Patrick and the Reynolds family.

Fheiceann tú an tseachtain seo chugainn. Shamrocks Abú!
