As we roll into October, it’s been a packed week full of thrilling football action, with our teams continuing to shine. Our reserves clinched a hard-fought win, while the seniors are preparing for their semi-final showdown against last year’s champions, Fulham Irish. We also have some exciting news on a Gaelic Football Coaching Conference in London, and the festive Christmas Lotto Draw is just around the corner. Let’s dive into all the details!

Shamrocks Surge to Victory in Hard-Fought Battle Against Parnells
Junior B Football Championship Group A
29th September – Greenford – 11:00
Parnells 1-8 vs 4-11 North London Shamrocks
North London Shamrocks’ reserves faced Parnells in Group A of the Junior B Championship, with a few nerves going into the game. Training had been sporadic, and there were concerns about team fluidity due to changes in the line-up and the absence of a few key players. However, the 11 o’clock throw-in meant a smooth drive to Greenford, and the squad’s focus sharpened during the warm-up, under Ollie’s watchful eye.
The match started on a shaky note for Shamrocks, who were second to the ball and struggled with some misplaced passes. Parnells capitalised on the early errors, showing quick turnovers and effective transitional play, taking the lead at 0-5 to 0-3 after the first 15 minutes. Despite a few wides from Shamrocks, the team gradually found their rhythm.
A key tactical switch saw Jack Gannon moved back to secure the half-back line, which gave players like Ciaran Deely, Jack Donovan, and Felim Conroy the platform to dominate. With this foundation, the Shamrocks began to play with more confidence, hunting in packs defensively and becoming ruthless in front of goal.
As the game progressed, Shamrocks steadily turned the tide, racking up impressive scores and pulling away from Parnells. Although the final scoreline of 1-8 to 4-11 might suggest a comfortable win, it was a hard-fought contest from start to finish. Parnells remained competitive throughout, but Shamrocks’ resilience and clinical finishing in crucial moments secured the victory.
Next up, the Reserves face Wandsworth on 6th October at Greenford (12:00), with a chance to finish top of the table.
