It’s been another action-packed week for North London Shamrocks, filled with close battles, exciting events on the horizon, and anticipation for the senior team’s championship final this weekend. Our reserves fought hard in a narrow semi-final defeat, while we gear up for the annual Race Night fundraiser and celebrate the journey of our seniors to the final. Let’s dive into this week’s updates!
A Quick Look Back…
Reserves Come Up Just Short
JUNIOR B FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP Semi-Final
13th October 2024 – Greenford
North London Shamrocks 0-11 – 1-9 Fulham Irish
On a cold and wet Sunday morning in Greenford, the Shamrocks fell just short in their semi-final battle against Fulham Irish, losing by a single point.
The game started brightly, with Fulham Irish taking an early 3-point lead at 4-1. But the Shamrocks battled back, dominating possession as the half progressed, and went into the break level at 6 points each.
At halftime, with a strong bench to call upon, the odds seemed to favour the Shamrocks. However, injuries forced the management team’s hand, and things didn’t go as planned. A defensive error gifted Fulham Irish a crucial goal, followed by a quick point, leaving Shamrocks 4 points behind with ten minutes to play.
Despite keeping Fulham Irish scoreless in the closing stages, and pushing hard for an equaliser, the Shamrocks couldn’t quite find the finishing touch. A valiant effort that came so close but ultimately ended in heartbreak.
