Hello Shamrocks!

Here are the highlights and updates from the latest games and events.

A Quick Look Back…

North London Shamrocks Shine at the ABCs

Last weekend, North London Shamrocks proudly fielded 11 teams at the All Britain Championships (ABCs). This massive effort took a heap of organizing, and the club couldn’t be prouder of all the efforts from the kids, parents, and of course, the coaches.

Our teams received a sprinkling of silverware and played some great ball throughout the tournament. From the youngest U7s to the experienced U18s, every team demonstrated incredible skill, teamwork, and sportsmanship. Here are some of the highlights;

U12s and U14s NLS Girls at ABC

Our U12s had a great run and played some lovely ball. Our U14s, despite losing in the ABC shield semi-finals, made us awfully proud. We are proud of both teams for their efforts!

NLS U18 Girls ABC Cup Finalists

Amazing performance from our U18 girls who swept all before them to reach the U18 ABC Cup Final. They played some belter games, often coming from behind. Along the way, they defeated St Kiernan’s (eventual shield winners) and Claddagh Gaels (plate winners) before a heated quarter-final against a much-fancied Roger Casement’s team. Previously, this team faced narrow losses at the quarter-final stage each time, but this time, they secured a place in the Semi-Final.

In the Semi-Final, NLS played one of the favourites, St Colmcille, who had beaten them in a classic a few weeks earlier. This time, NLS won narrowly by 2 points, leaving it all on the field. In the final, they fought hard but were denied by TCG. This team deserves huge credit not only for their brand of Gaelic football but also for their conduct. They have stuck together since they were 7/8 years old and are still hungry for more success. Most of them will be U18 again next year, so we go again.

U7s at the ABC

The U7 team played five games on Friday afternoon. Seeing the kids using the skills developed in training in the games was great. There was lots of teamwork and plenty of fun was had in the sunshine and the rain.

U9s at the ABC

Our two U9 teams played five matches in wet and blustery conditions, but that didn’t dampen their spirit. Each player gave their all, playing as a team. The spirit of Go Games was adhered to with everyone getting game time and, more importantly, loving it.

Boys U11s at the ABC

The mighty U11 team played on Saturday, 6th July. They played four matches and won three. It was a super team to watch, with a great performance by all, including the weather.

NLS U13s at the ABC

The U13s had a great ABC across a very wide five-group tier. The boys competed well and bowed out in the quarter-final of the shield.

Boys U15s at the ABC

The U15s were beaten in a competitive Shield Final. They gave a great account of themselves with several key players unavailable due to injury, illness, and school commitments. A credit to NLS!

U17 A & B Teams at the ABC

The B team won the plate, while the U17 A team came up short in the quarter-finals of the cup after winning an impressive three games in the group stages.

North London Shamrocks vs Fulham Irish – WALKOVER

Our reserves were scheduled to face Fulham Irish on Sunday, in the Division 4 Football League at Tottenhall Lane. Unfortunately, Fulham Irish were unable to field a team, resulting in a walkover for the team.

This result sees the reserves currently sitting 3rd in the league table.

Rules:

Scores are converted into points at 20 mins, half time, 55 mins, full time, and the end of extra time (if required).
The last digit of the teams’ total points at those times determines the winner.
How it works:

For example, if “Team 1” is winning 2-6 to 9 points at half time, that’s 12 points to 9. The winner would be Row 2, Column 9.
Each winner receives £150.
Price:

£20 per box or three boxes for £50. Boxes must be purchased before the game starts.
Organisers’ decision is final.

Gazebo Gone Gallivanting

One thing that had one hell of a lift-off at the ABCs was the loyal North London Shamrocks Gazebo. Not even Mick Duffy’s ham sandwiches could weigh it down. Rumor has it, it’s still flying strong—proving that if you pack enough ham sandwiches, even pigs can fly!
