As we push deeper into the season, the stakes are getting higher for the Shamrocks. From a crucial win in the Senior Football Championship to the success of our annual Golf Day and exciting news about our Christmas Lotto Draw, there’s plenty to keep spirits high as the days get shorter. Let’s take a look at this week’s highlights and what’s coming up next!
A Quick Look Back…
Seniors Secure Key Victory Over Tir Chonaill Gaels
CAPITAL CONCRETE SENIOR FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP GROUP B
15th September – Greenford
Tir Chonaill Gaels 1-10 – 4-8 North London Shamrocks
The seniors bounced back from a disappointing finish against Wandsworth with a strong performance against Tir Chonaill Gaels. From the throw-in, it was clear the boys were focused and up for the challenge, with Diver opening the scoring. Our running power and the movement of the forwards caused significant problems for TCG’s defence, and despite squandering an early goal chance, Adam Dunne capitalised on some slick passing to break through and find the net.
Just before halftime, a scuffle after a heavy tackle on one of our lads saw NLS reduced to 14 men, giving TCG a boost. However, the team responded with resilience, defending tightly and hitting on the break, netting a couple more goals in the process. A late TCG rally saw them flick a high ball into the net to narrow the gap to three points, but Shamrocks put the game to bed with a fourth goal to secure an important win against one of the championship favourites.
This victory sets us up nicely for the semi-finals, but the focus is now on preparing for another tough test against KKG. Depending on the results of other games, group standings could come down to score differences or head-to-head results.
NLS Golf Day 2024 Hits a New High
What a day! Our NLS Golf Day 2024 was a resounding success, with over 80 players hitting the course. The event was filled with plenty of friendly competition, some brilliant golf, and, let’s be honest, some not-so-brilliant shots.
The course was in fantastic condition, and the post-golf meal was just what we needed to round off the day. A huge thank you to all our sponsors who made the event possible, as well as to everyone who donated prizes for the raffle and auction. Your contributions truly made the day special for everyone involved, and the club is incredibly grateful.
We’d love to hear how we can make the event even better next year, so please share your feedback via this brief questionnaire: https://forms.office.com/e/j4p9UDywgs

Irish Night – Join Us for a Charity Evening of Music & Dancing
Mark your calendars for Friday, 18th October at the Penridge Suite, Arnos Grove (N11), where we’ll be hosting a very special Irish Night filled with music, dancing, and great company. Reception begins at 7pm, with dinner served at 7.30pm, and carriages at 12am.
We’ll be dancing to the music of Barry Owen and the Main Attraction, with a display of Irish Dancing to entertain. The event is in memory of three young people from the St Monicas parish in Palmers Green, all from Irish families, who tragically passed away after battling brain tumours:
- Sue Blasotta, aged 42
- Anthony Bourke, aged 34
- Jackie McGovern, aged 42
The event will feature a four-course meal with wine, beer, and soft drinks included for £65 per ticket. There will also be a Charity Raffle and Charity Auction to raise funds for Brain Tumour Research.
They are seeking sponsorship from Irish companies and donations of Auction & Raffle prizes to help make this evening a great success.
