Our seniors fought valiantly in the league final against St Kiernans but ultimately came up short in a tightly contested match. As we regroup and focus on the upcoming championship, our thoughts are also with the family and friends of Patrick Reynolds, whose funeral will take place this Friday.

Seniors Fall Short in League Final Against St Kiernans

Sunday, 11th August
KELTIC TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT DIVISION 1 FOOTBALL FINAL – Seniors – McGovern Park, Ruislip – 13:00
North London Shamrocks 0-15 vs St Kiernans 1-18

The seniors faced a tough battle in the league final on Sunday against St Kiernans, ultimately coming up short in a tightly contested match. The game was evenly matched, with both teams trading points, sitting at 8 points each just five minutes before halftime.

A pivotal moment came when Shamrocks had a clear goal chance that was well saved by the Kiernans keeper. In a swift counterattack, after two of our defenders collided, Kiernans broke through on goal. Despite brilliant defensive efforts by Shamrocks, including two crucial saves, the umpire awarded Kiernans a goal, a controversial decision that was a significant blow just before the break.

Heading into the second half, the Shamrocks regrouped and created two more goal-scoring opportunities, both of which were again denied by the Kiernans goalkeeper. This seemed to energize Kiernans, and as the Shamrocks, already depleted by injuries, began to tire, Kiernans pulled away, making the final scoreline more comfortable than the match had suggested.

Despite the loss, it was a good test for the team at this stage of the season. On another day, with more clinical finishing and a few decisions going our way, the outcome could have been very different. The league has served its purpose in helping to gel a very new squad, and now the focus shifts to the championship. We aim to regroup, recover from injuries, and push forward with renewed determination.

Funeral Arrangements for Patrick Reynolds

We are deeply saddened to share the funeral details for Patrick Reynolds. The funeral will take place on Friday, 16th August at 10:00 AM at St. Patrick’s Church, Ringsend, Dublin 4.
